WALL-MOUNTING GUIDE

You're just one step away from transforming your LEGO minifigure collection into a stunning wall-mounted display. This guide will help you install your acrylic case safely and securely, ensuring your collection looks amazing for years to come.

Your Included Hardware: What You Need to Know

Inside your Brixter package, you'll find a screw and wall plug set that has been selected for solid walls like brick and masonry.

Important: Using this hardware on other wall types (like drywall) will not provide adequate support, and could result in your case falling. Your collection's safety is top priority, and that starts with using the right hardware for your specific wall type.

The Most Critical Step: Identify Your Wall Type First

Before you begin, you must identify your wall material. This single step determines which hardware and installation method will keep your case safely mounted.

Use these quick tests to determine your wall material:

1. The Knock Test: Knock firmly on your wall.

- Hollow, drum-like sound = drywall or plaster over lath
- Solid, dense thud = concrete, brick, or solid plaster

2. The Push-Pin Test: Try pushing a thumbtack into the wall (in a hidden area).

- Easy penetration = drywall
- Significant resistance = plaster, concrete, or brick

3. The Drill Test: Drill a tiny pilot hole in a hidden spot and examine what comes out:

- Fine, chalky white powder = drywall
- Gritty, grayish or brownish powder = plaster
- Dense, sandy, reddish or grey dust = concrete/brick

Getting Started

1. Prepare Your Workspace

- Place your Brixter case on a clean, flat surface. Put a soft cloth or towel underneath to avoid scratching the case.
- You can use the back panel as a guide to mark your drill holes. If your case is already assembled, carefully separate the back panel from the rest of the case.

2. Choose and Mark Your Perfect Spot

- Choose your location: Pick the perfect spot on your wall where your case will look great and be easy to reach when you want to view or add items.
- Mark your drill points: Hold the back panel against your chosen wall spot. Use a level to make sure it's completely straight - this step is essential for a professional-looking installation. Once the panel is level and positioned correctly, use a pencil to carefully mark each mounting hole location.

3. Essential Safety Precautions

- Always wear safety goggles: This is non-negotiable. Drilling creates dust and debris that can get into your eyes.
- Check for hidden utilities: Before drilling, scan for electrical wires, water pipes, or gas lines using a reliable stud finder with AC detection. When in doubt, consult your building plans. Hitting a utility line can cause severe injury or costly damage.
- Clear your work area: Remove clutter, tools, and obstacles from around your drilling site for safe, efficient work.

Installation Guide

Pick your wall type below to begin.

  • For brick or masonry walls

  • For any other wall types or if uncertain

What You'll Need

- Screws and wall plugs (included with your Brixter case)
- Power drill with hammer drill setting (essential for masonry as standard drills won't work effectively)
- Masonry drill bit - See this video on choosing the right drill bit size
- Safety goggles
- Canned air or blower bulb (for cleaning holes)
- Hammer (for tapping plugs into place)

Step 1: Drill your pilot holes

Wear your safety goggles. Set your power drill to "hammer" mode and attach the correct masonry drill bit. Position the bit precisely on your marked spot, maintain a perfect 90-degree angle to the wall, and apply steady pressure. Let the hammer drill do the work. Don't force it. Drill to the full screw length (2 inches or 5 cm) plus an extra ¼ inch (or 0.6 cm) for dust clearance.

For a general visual guide on drilling into brick and masonry walls, you can watch this helpful tutorial.

Step 2: Clean and prepare holes

Immediately after drilling each hole, use canned air or a blower bulb to remove all dust and debris. This step is critical. Any remaining dust prevents proper wall plug expansion and weakens your installation.

Step 3: Install wall plugs

Insert the provided wall plugs into your clean holes. Use a hammer to gently tap each plug until it sits flush with the wall surface. Each plug should be firmly seated.

Pro-tip: For easier plug installation, insert a screw partway into the wall plug before tapping it in. This helps guide the plug straight into the hole and prevents it from tilting. You can see this technique demonstrated in this helpful video.

Step 4: Drive the screws

Switch your drill from "hammer" to "drill/drive" mode. Drive screws into the installed plugs, leaving approximately ¼ inch (or 0.6 cm) of the screw head exposed. This exposed portion will hold your case.

Step 5: Re-attach the backplate

If you detached the backplate for marking, carefully reattach it to your case now, ensuring proper alignment according to the assembly instructions.

Step 6: Hang your case

Align your case's mounting points with the exposed screw heads. Gently lower the case onto the screws, ensuring it seats firmly on all mounting points.

Step 7: Final securing

If the case hangs but is still loose, carefully tighten all screws by screwdriver until the case sits snug against the wall. The case should feel completely solid with no movement or wobble.

Caution: Don't over-tighten as this can strip screws, damage plugs, or crack your case.

Your Brixter case includes hardware specifically for brick and masonry, but every wall is different. If your wall is anything other than brick or masonry, you'll need different hardware.

Here's what to do: Visit your local hardware store and purchase screws and wall anchors specifically rated for both your wall material and the combined weight of your case plus contents. The staff can help you select the perfect set of screws and wall anchors so don't hesitate to ask!

Step 1: Choose and install wall anchors

- If you have drywall, watch this video for installation guide.

- If you have plaster wall, watch this video for installation guide.

Step 2: Drive the screws

Drive screws into the installed anchors, leaving approximately ¼ inch (or 0.6 cm) of the screw head exposed. This exposed portion will hold your case.

Step 3: Re-attach the backplate

If you detached the backplate for marking, carefully reattach it to your case now, ensuring proper alignment according to the assembly instructions.

Step 4: Hang your case

Align your case's mounting points with the exposed screw heads. Gently lower the case onto the screws, ensuring it seats firmly on all mounting points.

Step 5: Final securing

If the case hangs but is still loose, carefully tighten all screws by screwdriver until the case sits snug against the wall. The case should feel completely solid with no movement or wobble.

Caution: Don't over-tighten as this can strip screws, damage plugs, or crack your case.

Ensuring Long-Term Security

1. Before Hanging Your Case

You should verify:
- Wall plug positioning: The flanges (wider collar part of the wall plug) should be level with the wall surface, and screws should thread smoothly without plugs spinning
- No wall damage: Check for cracks, crumbling, or damage around drill points

2. After Hanging Your Case

You should confirm:
- Rock-solid stability: Gently test from various angles - no wobble, movement, or flex
- Perfect level: Double-check alignment with your level
- Flush mounting: Entire case back should contact the wall evenly
- Secure engagement: All screws fully engaged, none stripped
- Case integrity: No stress signs like cracks or deformation around fastener points

3. Quick Monthly Safety Check

Once a month, look for these warning signs. If you spot any of these, immediately and carefully unload your case:
- Sagging, tilting, or shifting position
- Pulling away from the wall (even slightly)
- Cracks or deformation around fastener points
- Rust or scaling on metal hardware
- Drywall dust or particles beneath the case
- New wall cracks, especially horizontal or stair-step patterns
- Gaps appearing between wall and floor/ceiling
- Sticking doors or misaligned windows nearby (may indicate structural movement)

Take action immediately: If you notice any warning signs, don't wait. Address issues promptly to prevent injury and avoid more costly repairs later. For serious or ongoing problems, consult a professional.
